My whole right leg is in so much pain, what did I doooo, whyyyyyy. I don’t know how I’m going to go to work tomorrow D:

✓ Ran 2 miles in 25 minutes
I had 5 runs on my training plan today. 1 mile warmup and 4 miles fartlek. Unfortunately, I woke up this morning with a sore hip, sore knee and extremely tight calf all on my right side. I kept trying to stretch everything out throughout the day, but being on my feet for 8 hrs was not doing me any favors. Needless to say, the treadmill and I are not friends right now.
I tried to stretch some more and warm up fully before attempting my run, but it was futile. After my warm up mile I tried to start the fartlek, but my fast and slow quickly became slow and slower, which became slower and limping. I was walking as I ended my 2nd mile and when I tried to start running again my calf hurt way too much. I had to call Kyle to come pick me up because I didn’t think I could walk back home :/
Throw that on top of continuing stomach issues and today is not my best day :(
Despite the pain I’m in right now, I’m glad I tried to run. I really wanted to finish those 5 miles strong today, but it was not in the cards. Not every run is going to be perfect, injuries will happen, we learn from them, and we keep running.

So I’ve mentioned briefly that I’ve been trying to cut out gluten because I was suspecting it was the source of my stomach issues. I feel pretty confident saying that I was right. It has been super frustrating because I didn’t begin to notice these issues until I started eating healthier. If I’m being healthier I should have less problems, right?! However, I suspect that my gluten sensitivity could have developed a long time ago, but I was eating so unhealthy that I just felt crappy all the time and didn’t notice.
The only problem is that I’m incredibly stubborn and people should be well aware of how much I love bread and all things carb/bread associated. I’ve been really struggling and I continue to just say screw it and eat the sandwich or hamburger bun anyways. I’m going to try going a couple weeks with absolutely no gluten whatsoever and I hope that I’ll feel so much better that it’ll encourage me to keep it up.
Today I’m trying some gluten free bread, granola, and nut crackers (all from whole foods) because I need sandwiches in my life and more options than fruits and veggies.
Once again, if anyone knows of any good gluten free blogs that post recipes or things that they eat please let me know!
I had illusions of getting up early to run, but I stayed up too late (surprise). Goal for tomorrow is to make sure I stay hydrated at work so I can come home and run right away and not upset my stomach or have to wait for awhile. Also, I’ll have to get up the nerve to brave the heat. I don’t have very much experience running in super warm weather yet and I’m a wuss.
✓ Ran 3 miles in 34 minutes
3 miles on the treadmill tonight! I failed with my running last week due to a sore hip and then Picnic Day* plans with the CAAMB** over the weekend. Getting back to it now though :) I did 2 miles at 5.0 and then worked my way up to a 6.2 during the last mile. Picture is from Picnic Day battle of the bands.
